Who am I?

I am an American who has lived in Cuba since 2012, after visiting the island frequently for more than a decade.  My son has two passports: US and Cuban.  He attends public school in Havana.  One of my favorite Cuban sayings is “lo que sucede conviene” which translates roughly to “every cloud has a silver lining.”  Another is “you think as you live.”  This blog is a glimpse of how I live.  My observations are my own.

The picture on the main page was  taken at Guantanamo (by Amy, at Unsplash).  I like it because it’s not the usual decaying building or 1950’s Chevrolet.  Cuba is so much more than all that.
